Migraines are extremely painful headaches that are often accompanied by nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and also noise. However a migraine cure is currently not available or rather it is a myth. This then leads to the belief of several myth statements in relation to migraines.
First Statement
“Migraines are therefore not real.”
This is a myth.
Migraines are definitely real and every migraine sufferer will agree. Each migraine is not confined to the head however this is the region where it is the worst.
Second statement
“Migraines have a known cause”
Unfortunately this is a myth.
Although several theories have been put forward, there has been no definitive cause of migraines that have been identified.
Third Statement
“All migraines have the same symptoms”
This is a myth too.
This is one of the reasons why it makes migraines incredibly difficult to diagnose at times. This is difficult especially if your doctor only knows the common symptoms of a migraine.
Fourth Statement
Migraines only effect women.
This is a myth.
Migraines can also effect males too, although it does effect women more by a factor of 3 to 1.
The list of myths can go on and on….
Even though there are so many myths about the migraine, particularly the myth that there is a migraine cure, there is hope for all the sufferers of migraines.
It basically requires understanding three simple concepts which include the prevention, control and treatment of migraines. These three components alone are very effective, however when combined provides a powerful force against migraines.
